Conference Round-up: Jersey City used a 2nd quarter blitz to take out Drew, who were playing their first-ever game.
Nonconference Record: 5-3
Good Wins: Rowan staked out early supremacy in their showdown against Cortland.  Kean and Montclair both closed strong to erase deficits.  Paterson was also very impressive, albeit against a new program.
Bad Wins: None. The Skyline experienced a nice opening week.
Good Losses: Madison and Stockton both lost close games as double-digit underdogs, with the Ospreys forcing overtime in the inaugural contest.
Bad Losses: Trenton experienced a heart-breaking OT loss after tying the game late in regulation.

Nonconference Record: 1-8 -- ugh
Good Wins: Wisconsin Lutheran wins the Midwest!
Bad Wins: Okay, they may not have won the conference (yet), but as the only team that won on opening week, they are carrying the torch.  And the Warriors trailed Lynchburg at one point 21-0…yikes.
Good Losses: There certainly are a lot to choose from.  Seriously, though, St Norbert, Carroll and Illinois College all showed tenacity against tough opponents.
Bad Losses: Concordia managed to lose a 30-27 OT game and failed to score a touchdown.  You read that right, all field goals, including one in overtime.  That’s gotta be some kind of record, right?

Nonconference Record: 5-4
Good Wins: Wabash pulled away in the 4th quarter for an impressive victory, yet it was Allegheny who really opened eyes in Week 1.  The Gators put away a good Endicott team handily, forcing a safety along the way.  Denison and Hiram also looked good, the former scoring the tying TD in the 4th quarter before prevailing in overtime.
Bad Wins: Not a one
Good Losses: OH Wesleyan and Wooster played in tight contests that could have gone in either direction.  The Bishops took a lead into the 4th quarter, while the Scots came up short on a final touchdown drive.
Bad Losses: Earlham was swamped from the 2nd quarter on, but then this was kinda expected…

Conference Round-up: Millsaps took down Sewanee despite trailing 14-0 early.
Nonconference Record: 7-3
Good Wins: The majority of these seven wins ere in the ‘tweener category: they weren’t great, they weren’t horrible; many of them were close, involving comebacks and near-squandered leads.  LA College, Hendrix and LaGrange had the most dramatic victories.
Bad Wins: None
Good Losses: Belhaven lost in a nip & tuck affair.
Bad Losses: None

Nonconference Record: 5-6
Good Wins: Knoxville took an overtime win from Trenton St as an underdog.
Bad Wins: Methodist’s win wasn’t exactly bad, but when you rely on six FGs, it says something about the offense’s ability to finish drives.
Good Losses: None
Bad Losses: NC Wesleyan really stunk up the joint.  They were a big favorite against Maranatha.

Nonconference Record: 6-4
Good Wins: Albion and Kalamazoo both with solid victories, while Trine hung on as IL College kept making comeback attempts.
Bad Wins: There is nothing here that I would call bad.
Good Losses: Adrian stayed close…until the 4th quarter.
Bad Losses: Alma kicked five FGs against Bowdoin, a team they were pretty heavily favored against.  When they did score a potential game-tying TD late, the 2-pt conversion was missed.  This loss qualifies as a blown opportunity to start the season strong.

Conference Round-up: Curry dispatched Maine Maritime with a strong 2nd half.
Nonconference Record: 5-4
Good Wins: Coast Guard dominated, Norwich won on a last-minute FG and Anna Maria won in a shootout decided in overtime.
Bad Wins: Not that it was necessarily bad, but Mount Ida trailed by as many as three touchdowns against a fledgling program, yet scored the final 22 points of the game (final score being their only lead).
Good Losses: None
Bad Losses: Salve Regina relied too much on FGs, Husson gave up a 4th quarter lead, yet it was Endicott who really deserves the dishonors in this category.  The Gulls played horribly, were never in their game vs Allegheny and – for good measure – gave up a safety.

Conference Round-up: St Scholastica allowed Waldorf to climb into their game, then effectively pulled away.
Nonconference Record: 5-3
Good Wins: Martin Luther was dominant, Mount Senario put together a wild 4th quarter and Maranatha sprung a major upset.
Bad Wins: None of these wins was bad.
Good Losses: Presentation overcame a three touchdown deficit to force a tie, then ran out of steam.

Bad Losses: Mount Marty led 27-7, then surrendered 38 consecutive points….

Conference Round-up: Western New England managed to beat New Hampshire St by kicking six FGs, including the final two of the game to preserve the victory.
Nonconference Record: 5-4
Good Wins: NE Massachusetts took down a NESCAC team as a 14-point underdog.  The RiverHawks looked poised and polished, while sending a shot across everyone else’s bow.
Bad Wins: None
Good Losses: The Penmen, Anchormen and Camels all stayed close in their debuts, something which was not necessarily expected.
Bad Losses: Eastern Connecticut was drilled, something that was somewhat expected.

Good Wins: Salisbury and Randolph-Macon both looked unstoppable; excellent opening efforts.  Roanoke, in their maiden flight, scored a last-second TD & 2-pt conversion, then prevailed in four overtimes.
Bad Wins: Bridgewater and Emory & Henry looked less than formidable.  The Eagles twice went down by two scores, and the Wasps found themselves n a seesaw battle with a foe they were heavily favored over.
Good Losses: Lynchburg actually went up 21-0, surprising everyone – including themselves – and nearly pulled a fairly major upset.
Bad Losses: Guilford was plucky, but ultimately relied on too many field goals (six).  The real turkey was turned in by the Generals, who squandered a late lead, then came up empty in OT against a team they were projected to beat.

Bad Wins: None
Good Losses: Bluffton hung in tough against a superior opponent.
Bad Losses: Defiance was unexpectedly blown out, and Anderson lost a game in which they were favored (and the Ravens will probably not be favored often this season).

Bad Wins: See above
Good Losses: Westminster, Rockford, Greenville, Webster and Fontbonne all had their good moments.
Bad Losses: None, really, it’s the quantity of the losses that is eye-popping.

Good Wins: Three of the Little East’s victories came over fledgling programs, adding a bit of a caveat to those wins (though one of them came by a new team, as well, Salem St).  Other than those, a shout-out to Worcester Tech, who looked solid.
Bad Wins: None that were actually bad.
Good Losses: Worcester St had a couple of early leads, and remained a thorn in Buffalo St’s hide (pun partially intended).
Bad Losses: Bridgewater got steamrolled by Salisbury.  Seriously, it wasn’t pretty; the Bears never had a chance.

Conference Round-up: Dickinson blew a 17-point lead, then pulled away again for a less-than-auspicious victory.
Nonconference Record:
3-7
Good Wins:
The Presidents were dominant, the Blue Jays were persistent and the Cardinals were fairly impressive in their own right.
Bad Wins: None
Good Losses:
McDaniel was in a dogfight, twice falling behind by two touchdowns, yet rallying back to tie, only to give up a late TD; Washington College hung tough in their first-ever game.
Bad Losses: F&M and Gettysburg lost close games, yet both were favored and fell into multi-score deficits before rallying.

Good Losses: Westmont actually scored first in their inaugural game….
Bad Losses: Both Occidental and La Verne relied on too many FG’s, and subsequently lost as favorites.

Nonconference Record: 6-4
Good Wins: Pretty much everyone who won looked either really good or pretty good.  There were no clunkers.
Bad Wins: None
Good Losses: Juniata was most impressive as a significant underdog, nearly winning in regulation.
Bad Losses: On the other hand, Westminster, Susquehanna and Grove City all looked somewhere between mediocre and horrible…trending towards the latter.

Nonconference Record: 9-2.  The NESCAC abides.
Good Wins: When you win nine games, there are bound to be highlights, and NESCAC Week 1 is no exception.  Every team that won looked good.  For a conference that isolates itself in real life, watching the performance of these teams moving forward in a milieu in which they actually play nonconference games should be intriguing.
Bad Wins: None
Good Losses: The Jumbos led 14-3 early.
Bad Losses: Middlebury was the only team in the NESCAC who looked bad, and they truly were disorganized in an embarrassing loss.

Good Wins: When only one team wins, you hope it’s a good win.  In Buff St’s case, it was neither good nor bad, but it was a win, and it prevented the Northland from getting swept.
Bad Wins: None
Good Losses: Cortland played Rowan tough in a high-profile match-up.  As for the new programs, Potsdam and Fredonia were particularly ornery.
Bad Losses: We’ll give the new guys a break – no bad losses.
